WWE Main Event Preview 5/15/13

Tonight’s episode of WWE Main Event is a three-headed monster of sports entertainment!

1. WWE Tag Team Champion Kane vs. Seth Rollins

The WWE’s hottest rivalry has spilled over into Main Event! People can’t get enough of the Shield/Team Hell No beef, and with the tag titles on the line this Sunday at Extreme Rules, things can only intensify from here on out. Don’t be shocked if there are appreances by Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns. This one has the potential to end in an all-out brawl.

2. WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. Sin Cara (non-title match)

Welcome back Sin Cara! The WWE Universe hasn’t seen the high-flying superhero in a few weeks, and he faces a tough match in his return against the IC Champ, Wade Barrett. Barrett hasn’t been involved in a proper feud in a while, so it will be interesting to see if this match is a one-off or develops into something more substantial.  The answer could be determined by how well the disparate styles of Barrett and Sin Cara mesh in the ring.

3. Cody Rhodes vs. Justin Gabriel

In what should be a solid matchup, master technician Cody Rhodes goes one-on-one with the energetic Justin Gabriel. Cody’s mustache will be ringside.

Also on Main Event tonight, there will be appearances by The Miz and….THE USOS! Where does everyone’s favorite under-utilized tag team fit into the program? You gotta watch to find out!

Groomed for greatness, Dashing, or whatever you like to call him, Cody Rhodes is a favorite around the Chad Dukes Wrestling clubhouse. Cody was yet another of the amazing lineup of superstars to join Chad Dukes, a Shark, and a Frog on Radio Row at WWE Axxess this morning.

The brief Rhodes Scholars hiatus was a dark time in WWE. Thankfully it was a brief blip and the two best friends are slated to join forces with the Bella Twins to take on Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls on the grandest stage of them all. Cody opened the interview by talking about his friend and tag team partner, Damien Sandow.

Him and I are not a tag team really. We’re just genuinely friends. We consider ourselves Navy Seals of tag team segments because whenever they’re like “who could do this match?” “Team Rhodes Scholars!” Cody Rhodes is different, Damien Sandow is different, but Team Rhodes Scholars is this whole ‘nother fun. It’s so different from what I am a fan of and what I typically always wanted to do. Damien is a completely different element. I love working with him.

Tag-Team Match Announced for WM 29

Photo Credit: WWE.comEarlier today WWE.com revealed the newest addition to the Wrestlemania card: an 8-person inter-gender tag team match!

The team of Brodus Clay, Tensai, and the Funkadactlys will face Team Rhodes Scholars with the Bella twins.

This rivalry has been simmering over the past month, and took an interesting turn earlier this week on RAW when Team Rhodes Scholars picked up a victory over Brodus and Tensai aka “Sweet T.” Prior meetings between the tag teams had all ended in resounding losses for Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow.

Though this match will likely be a shorter bout placed between some of the more high-profile matches, it should be an entertaining one. Rhodes and Sandow are two of WWE’s top technicians and it’s always a great time watching two behemoths do their thing against smaller, yet skilled competition. Plus, the mere presence of Cameron, Naomi, Nikki, and Brie already gives us four reasons to stayed glued to the set!

Groomed for Greatness, the mustachioed Cody Rhodes is the latest WWE Superstar to be featured on Marvel.com’s Fightin’ Fanboys feature.

In the interview Cody has a fun time discussing how he decided to grow the now infamous ‘stache, fields comparisons to Tony Stark, and talks about his favorite comics. Cody’s #1 seed? The X-Men.

Yesterday I read the first issue of the new UNCANNY X-MEN series and I’m very intrigued. I always stick with the X-Men. I was on the Cyclops bandwagon long before he became the most interesting figure in the comics world, so I love everything going on now. I don’t know if I was being worked the whole time or if there were other people reading X-Men comics for years, thinking “Man, Cyclops is awesome, taking all these people under his wing, doing so much for these people even though they do nothing for him.” Now he couldn’t be more of a—and I hate this term—boss. Day by day he’s becoming the new Erik Lensherr and I dig it. He’s telling the truth and that’s what makes him the bad guy.

Cody Rhodes prepares for the New Age Outlaws

The Dashing one was training for his BIG televised match this Monday with partner Damien Sandow against the New Age Outlaws.

Here is something you might have not known (I’m not gonna to the catch phrases); this is the SECOND match the NAO have had on RAW in the last 13 years – the first being last week. ALSO  they have previously been touring RAW live events working with Rhodes Scholars.

Cody took to twitter and tout to stoke the fires.

“It’s more than the Road Dogg did. You better call somebody.”

-Knee slapper.
