New Japan G1 USA Special Results: Night 1, Night 2 – Wrestling Observer

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s foray into the United States market took place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA this weekend with a two-night extravaganza which crowned the inaugural IWGP United States Champion.

Slammiversary XV Results – Cageside Seats

The latest “new era” for TNA/Impact/Global Force Wrestling kicked off last night in Orlando with the unification of Impact and GFW’s top singles championships at Slammiversary. On the men’s side, Alberto Del Rio defeated Bobby Lashley and Sienna defeated Rosemary to become the Unified Women’s Champion. Also of note, former NFL running back DeAngelo Williams made his wrestling debut in a tag match with MOOSE against Eli Drake and Chris Adonis (Masters).

Impact Rebranding…Again – With Spandex

Speaking of Impact, if you noticed both Global Force Champions winning the unification matches, it probably wasn’t an accident. After first merging with and later purchasing Global Force Wrestling from Jeff Jarrett last week, Anthem announced Slammiversary weekend their intentions to rebrand the company as Global Force Wrestling. The Impact name will still remain the name of the television promotion, but Global Force, not TNA or Impact will be the “sanctioning body” if you will.  No word on if Anthem also got all the Global Force Gold in the deal.

Four More Mae Young Classic Names – Pro Wrestling Sheet

Stardom’s Kari Hojo (now Kari Sane), Scotland’s Viper (now Piper Neven), New Zealand’s Evie (now Dakota Kai) and Bianca BelAir are the latest names confirmed for July’s Mae Young Classic tapings.
