Roundup1

Russo-Cornette – WrestleZone

The feud between former WWE Creative talents has escalated to the point where one feels the need to take legal action. Jim Cornette posted a photo showing that Vince Russo has filed an “Emergency Protective Order” him claiming the Louisville Lip has been stalking him. The pair has been antagonists for years but recently rekindled their feud after comments made during Cornette’s appearance on WWE Network’s Table For 3, Cornette’s podcast, and Russo’s video “apology” to Cornette.

Kimber Lee Gets Her NXT Name – Pro Wrestling Sheet

While fellow recent NXT Signee Ruby Riot received her NXT name almost immediately, it took the other big independent women’s signee a little longer. Kimber Lee will now be known as Abbey Laith. She announced the change on her social media accounts. In her previous NXT appearances, on live events and a few enhancement talent appearances, she used her real name Kimberly Frankele, but now that she has an NXT name perhaps that means an official “debut” either on NXT or the Mae Young Classic is imminent.

After a backstage brawl that aired on last night’s NXT involving NXT Champion Roode insulting Roderick Strong, fiancé Marina Shafir and their son Troy as they entered the arena, the champion will now defend the title against Strong on the July 5th edition of NXT.

Money In The Bank – Wrestling Observer

The Maharaja retained his championship in much the same way he gained it and Carmella and Baron Corbin became the 2017 Money In The Bank Winners at last night’s pay-per-view. Carmella’s victory came in a controversial fashion as Carmella’s puppet/second James Ellsworth climbed the ladder for her and dropped the case down to her for the win. It sounds like Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan will have something to say about that this Tuesday. Corbin grabbed the men’s case by ending the spectacular AJ Styles-Nakamura confrontation, dumping both men off the ladder, and grabbing the briefcase. Special recognition to Sami Zayn who dealt out some hellacious moves to Ziggler and Kevin Owens during the match.

Mike & Maria Kanellis – YouTube

Another happening last night was the debut of Mike and Maria Kanellis, formerly Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis of Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor. The pair is being billed as a couple who is over the top in love, complete with 80’s power ballad theme music, focused on teaching SmackDown Live, “The Power of Love” through the heelish tactics the pair is known for I’m sure.

Crazzy Steve – Pro Wrestling Sheet

Another former Impact Star and former tag team champion, Crazzy Steve was featured in the article touting the latest crop of athletes trying out for WWE at the Performance Center.

Mae Young Classic – With Spandex

Friday afternoon, the first four names for the Mae Young Classic were revealed: Toni Storm (PROGRESS Women’s Champion), Lacey Evans (NXT), Sarah Logan (Crazy Mary Dobson, NXT) and Princess Sugehit (CMLL Mexican National Women’s Champion). In addition, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that former Straight Edge Society member Serena is in talks to participate and Becky Lynch name-dropped former MMA fighter turned Wrestler Shayna Baszler as a possible participant in an interview with an Indian publication.

WrestleMania London? – With Spandex

WWE has included London in a poll of potential future sites to attendees of Orlando’s WrestleMania 33 sparking speculation that London could actually be the host site for the WWE’s crown jewel event. There are some logistics to overcome, like the time difference, but it’s certainly an interesting option.

Slammiversary Announce Team – Cageside Seats

MLB Network & NHL Network’s Robert Flores will join Don West for the call of Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary XV. The makeshift announce duo will be replacing Jeremy Borash and Josh Matthews, who instead of calling the action will be in action in a tag team match.

Rumor: Former Impact & ROH Stars Set for WWE – Wrestlezone

PW Insider is reporting that a pair of Impact and Ring of Honor stars are set to debut for the SmackDown Live brand this Tuesday or even as soon as Sunday’s SmackDown Money In The Bank show. For the sake of those who don’t want their identities revealed, I’ve omitted them in this space, but if you want to know click the link.
