VIDEO: The Miz Verbally Snaps on SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack

While SmackDown Live is at a bit of a programming disadvantage, due to the extra hour Raw receives on the USA Network each week, it has more than made up for it with their new WWE Network post-show Talking Smack.

If you haven’t been watching, Talking Smack is hosted by Renee Young and Daniel Bryan and operates in a similar vein to scripted television post shows like Talking Dead and their ilk, while also featuring relevant guests from that week’s episode.  Most notably from the first few weeks of the show is the looser tone from traditional WWE programming, bringing real-world issues into their storytelling, like the fans negative reactions to the Usos, and often including Daniel Bryan often slipping in comments that tow the line between storylines and real life feelings.

From publicly criticizing the Universal Championship name to calling Brock Lesnar and the stars of Raw “lazy,” to being offended by Cena’s comments on Styles having to go back to independent wrestling, Daniel Bryan has slung his fair share of dirt on the program.  Last night, The Miz slung back.

New Tag & Women’s Championships for Smackdown – WWE

Take a closer look at the new straps for the blue brand unveiled on last night’s SmackDown.  I can’t explain why the all-red Universal Championship bothers me but the all-blue “dime” Tag Titles don’t bother me.  The best route for the two major titles might be to sync them up with the Women’s title style: standardized leather strap & gold plates with the color behind the logo denoting the brand of the championship.

First Three Matches For Backlash – Lords of Pain

Speaking of those new championships, they will be decided at September 11th’s Backlash PPV in Richmond, VA.  The Women’s Championship will be settled in a six-pack challenge and the Tag Team Championship will be decided in the finals of the tournament started on last night’s show.  In addition, the main event for the show will be a blockbuster: Dean Ambrose versus AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship.

As seen on last night’s Raw, Finn Balor suffered a shoulder injury in his SummerSlam match with Seth Rollins which will require surgery.  Balor then had to relinquish the Universal Championship and a mini-tournament has commenced, culminating in a fatal-four way to crown a new champion next week.  Not a great start for the new championship.

Lesnar-Jericho Altercation – Pro Wrestling Sheet

Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho allegedly had a confrontation backstage after the main event of SummerSlam.  The alleged scuffle began with Jericho feeling Lesnar may have taken some liberties with Randy Orton when he elbowed him in the head, causing a gash which required 10 staples to close, because no one backstage would tell him if Lesnar was supposed to cut Orton open or not.

New Ring of Honor World Champion – ROH

Missed during SummerSlam weekend was the fact that we have a new ROH World Champion, former guest of the show Adam Cole defeated former guest of the show Jay Lethal in the main event of Death Before Dishonor  to become a two-time ROH World Champion.
