Sting Has Arrived: Full Survivor Series Results

“This will be a Survivor Series you’ll never forget.”- Vince McMahon

STING. One of the last “never going to happen” moments has finally happened.  Goosebumps, jitters, marking out. It was the full gamut of emotions.

In one of the biggest moments in WWE in the past 15-20 years, the last “name” from WCW to never step foot in a WWE ring has finally crossed that threshold.  Sting made his WWE debut tonight to come to the aid of Dolph Ziggler, breaking up crooked referee interference, confronting Triple H, and after a long tense staredown giving him a Scorpion Death Drop for his troubles.  As a long time wrestling fan, it’s a moment I was starting to think I’d never see take place.  Sting was making appearances for WWE2K15, but nothing materialized for months regarding an appearance at an actual WWE wrestling show.  I feel like I have so much to say but at the same time feel speechless.  It was a once in a lifetime mark out moment, which I hope you enjoyed as much as I did.

The initial reaction when it comes to Sting getting into the ring, is that we’re headed towards a Triple H-Sting confrontation at WrestleMania 31, which if you think about it is kind of poetic.  If Sting is having his one off, Hall of Fame induction/match at this year’s showcase and Taker isn’t willing to return, facing Triple H, a Ric Flair protege, makes sense, given the Flair/Sting history.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Seth Rollins after Stingerference to win the 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Match for Team Cena over Team Authority.

But tonight wasn’t only about The Man Called Sting, it was about the performance of Dolph Ziggler.  On a team captained by John Cena and loaded with hosses, Dolph Ziggler bumped his ass off, eliminated 3 of 5 members of Team Authority, had an off the charts segment of near falls with Seth Rollins, and ultimately became the Sole Survivor.

Survivor Series Preview

Editor’s Note: There are a TON of rumors around the internet the past two days about tonight’s Survivor Series event. We’re aware of them, but if you’re anything like us we like to be surprised and take it all in as it happens. So this preview will be spoiler free. Enjoy!

Tonight for FREE on the WWE Network or for a nominal fee on your local pay-per-view provider it’ the 2014 WWE Survivor Series! There are five matches announced for the card including two championship bouts and two traditional Survivor Series elimination matches. Let’s preview the card.

5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Authority vs. Team Cena

Team Cena captained by John Cena consists of Dolph Ziggler, The Big Show, Ryback, & Erick Rowan and Team Authority captained by Seth Rolins consists of Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev, & Luke Harper.

While the numbers are “even” at 5-on 5, strictly speaking the Authority with Triple H, Joey Mercury, & Jaime Noble at ringside have a distinct numbers advantage. Following the events of Friday Night Smackdown, in which that trio helped decimate Team Cena with a steel chair, the stakes couldn’t be bigger for both sides in tonight’s Main Event. If The Authority’s team loses, Triple H set to be ousted from power and if Team Cena loses, his charges will be fired from WWE, but Cena will remain employed. A transparent attempt to sow the seeds of dissent within Team Cena.

The firing stipulation seems to be a bit of WWE showing their cards, but with the number of rumors about tonight’s show anything is on the table. Being a big fan of the Survivor Series elimination match there is still a lot to like in this match and it should still have some very interesting dynamics between the combatant, especially finally seeing Rowan and Harper throw hands against each other.

Prediction: I’ll go Team Cena here, McMahons survive being ousted from power all the time, this won’t be the last of the Authority should they lose. Plus, there’s a lot more deus ex-machina that would have to go down if Team Cena is fired to bring them back.

Smackdown Preview 11/21/14

The final salvos in the two top feuds heading into Survivor Series will be thrown on an all new Smackdown on SyFy, just two days before the company rolls into St. Louis.

Dean Ambrose’s Survival Kit is one segment being hyped for tonight’s show.  One would presume this promo will be something similar to Ambrose’s Seth Rollins/prop comedy dummy attack prior to Hell in a Cell but directed this time at the Eater of Worlds.  The pair has been trading assaults since Wyatt’s interference at Hell in a Cell. After Ambrose’s attack on Wyatt Monday, I’d wager that Bray won’t be silently watching Ambrose’s segment.

The COO and architect of Team Authority, Triple H will kick off Smackdown with an interview with Michael Cole. Wait. Triple H, opening a show with a promo? This has to be a misprint. With the Authority’s power on the line this Sunday what will the Game have to say about his trip through a table on Monday and the reformed Team Cena? Will he raise the stakes at Survivor Series?

And in a Sunday’s Main Event members of the opposing sides will meet in several matches: Former Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler faces US Champion Rusev and Seth Rollins & Slacks Kane square off against Ryback & The Big Show. We’ll also see Erick Rowan in babyface singles action for the first time ever!

In a teaser video which aired during last night’s NXT, a shadowed Steen was introduced to the WWE Universe with no name given, just the date: 12/11/14. As we’ve reported in the past Steen’s NXT name is expected to be Kevin Owens, a tribute to both his son Owen and his favorite wrestler Owen Hart.
