Officially, Jay Briscoe is not the Ring of Honor World Champion.  He was stripped of the title back in June 2013, due to some combination of injury and contract disputes.  He has recently been medically cleared to return to the ring, and did so last night at Glory By Honor XII.  The former champ made an appearance following the 8-Man Champions vs. All-Stars match, in which Michael Elgin pinned current champ Adam Cole to win the match and get a future title shot.  Briscoe and Elgin argued about who’s really next in line.  The founding father of ROH pulled this belt from a sack, hitting Cole and his new challenger with it.

Here’s Jay Briscoe, the “real world champion.”

Of course, Jay Briscoe probably needs to get in line for the next title shot.  Kevin Steen is the current #1 Contender, getting a shot at Adam Cole’s belt this Saturday in Cincinnati at “The Golden Dream.”  Michael Elgin, as mentioned, has gotten a title shot after last night’s victory.  Finally, Jimmy Jacobs could earn a title match with a victory over Roderick Strong this Saturday.
