Groomed for greatness, Dashing, or whatever you like to call him, Cody Rhodes is a favorite around the Chad Dukes Wrestling clubhouse. Cody was yet another of the amazing lineup of superstars to join Chad Dukes, a Shark, and a Frog on Radio Row at WWE Axxess this morning.

The brief Rhodes Scholars hiatus was a dark time in WWE. Thankfully it was a brief blip and the two best friends are slated to join forces with the Bella Twins to take on Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls on the grandest stage of them all. Cody opened the interview by talking about his friend and tag team partner, Damien Sandow.

Him and I are not a tag team really. We’re just genuinely friends. We consider ourselves Navy Seals of tag team segments because whenever they’re like “who could do this match?” “Team Rhodes Scholars!” Cody Rhodes is different, Damien Sandow is different, but Team Rhodes Scholars is this whole ‘nother fun. It’s so different from what I am a fan of and what I typically always wanted to do. Damien is a completely different element. I love working with him.

Cody’s had glimpses of success throughout his WWE career, Intercontinental Championships, Tag Team Championships, but he’s not content or, self admittedly, not patient.

If I haven’t gotten to where I want to get, it’s no one’s fault but my own. I hate the word ‘push.’ I hate the idea that we’re being held back for certain superstars. That’s not the case. It’s just a matter of I’m 27 years old. I don’t like being patient and I’ll never be patient. For those people who want Cody Rhodes to ascend to the top, I’m doing every damn thing I can, but there are certain elements to this business that are show business and my timetable hasn’t been met, but it changes. I think this year will probably be the best year I’ve had with the WWE.

I’ll be totally honest. I don’t know why I don’t see me and Dolph Ziggler on the side of this building we’re in today. I’m surprised, but it’s something to work for and it will be all the more sweeter. I grew up a massive fan of Shawn Michaels. I have faith because that’s the type of superstar that I followed and that’s the type of superstar I wanted to pattern myself after.

Personally, one feud that could be a springboard for Cody’s success is a long awaited match with half-brother Golddust. I think the WWE missed an opportunity, when they teased a matchup at last year’s Mania.

Yeah, it’ll happen. I just don’t know when and I don’t know where. He doesn’t know when and he doesn’t know where, but I know it’ll happen. There are certain things, and I don’t mean to sound cocky or braggadocios, but there are certain things I know have to happen while I work for this company, and that’s one of them.

After discussing the Legacy and his WrestleMania moments, Rhodes went on to talk about the fact that part timers fill the top of this year’s Wrestlemania card. While he’s fine with it, it’s good to see that his lack of patience has inspired a goal for next WrestleMania season.

I love the fact that Brock, and the Rock, and Jericho are here because they’re guaranteed. They’ve proven that they can go in the ring. For Wrestlemania this year, I think it’s wonderful. I think there wasn’t any room for that celebrity involvement. Who’s a bigger celebrity than the Rock? I think it’s wonderful that he’s returning to his roots, because he loves wrestling. He loves wrestling. He loves sports entertainment too, but he loves wrestling. I dig that about the Rock.

But next year, at WrestleMania 30, it’s a personal goal – and I know Dolph (Ziggler) is the same way, Wade (Barrett) is probably the same way – that it’s not about bringing anyone back. Let these guys go home. They did everything they possibly could, let them go home. They’re going to go off into the sunset heroes and having had great matches, but new stars are moving forward. Sports entertainment has to evolve or it won’t continue.

A huge thank you to Cody Rhodes for joining CDW at WWE Fan Axxess at WrestleMania 29!

Didn’t think it was possible to like Cody more, but after his honesty on Dolph and his “spot”, how can you not like him more.
