Not to spoil the main event, but to be frank, I don’t see any way John Cena is not leaving Wrestlemania 29 as WWE Champion. The Rock’s schedule isn’t conducive enough for WWE’s fans and a new Cena run might actually be a little fresher than we’re giving him credit for.
So, at the end of the Road to Wrestlemania there appears to be a STOP sign. Which way will WWE turn as Cena looks for a new challenger?
The most obvious, and likely, first volunteer is Cena’s most dynamic in-ring opponent, CM Punk. The two have a ton of chemistry and Cena as champion to Punk’s challenger could result in another classic feud and series of matches.
How about Brock Lesnar? I don’t see Lesnar going over Triple H for a second time, so maybe losing to the COO will bring Lesnar down to a human level where the fans might actually believe Cena could take him down in a normal match.
One thing I am extremely worried about is Randy Orton getting the next shot. It has been curious over the last few weeks that Orton has been winning and winning, with no real push towards anything. Might they be trying to reestablish as a top superstar in the company? God help us all if we get Cena/Orton after Wrestlemania.
Then there is the field: Ryback, Sheamus, Big Show, loser of Del Rio/Swagger, Ziggler, Jericho, etc. All of these guys could work in a future program, but we’ll have to wait and see which come out of Wrestlemania with the momentum to go after Cena.
What do you think? Any thoughts on who might be a good feud for John Cena? How about if the Rock actually WINS? Which one of these guys would be a good fit?
