The “Best In The World” proved this weekend why he’s deserving of that title. Just before a WWE live show, the former WWE Champion CM Punk paid a visit to one of his die hard fans, Tom Dotterer. Unable to make it to the show due to emergency surgery, Punk really stepped it up for this true blue fan.
Click on to learn Dotterer’s back story and how he came to meet The Best In The World
You may remember Dotterer from earlier this year. A 77 year old man who was shot in the eye during a robbery of his liquor store in January. This naturally caught the attention of the media, and when given a chance to talk about his ordeal, Dotterer took the time to express his absolute frustration… with the WWE and the outcome of the Royal Rumble.
“That’s the worst thing that happened to me all week, the Rock beat Punk. Did you know that?”
His fandom and his allegiance to Punk did not go unnoticed, as Punk and the WWE offered Dotterer front row seats to a live show. Unfortunately, that show was this past weekend. And Dotterer was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery relating to his injuries. According to family members, he is doing well and is expected to be released in a few days.
Hearing his number 1 fan would not be able to make it out to see him and the show, Punk did the next best thing. He went to visit Dotterer in the hospital just before the show was about to go on. When you think about all that this sport has given to its fans. Athletes putting their bodies and their health on the line, day in and day out, superstars making dreams come true for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and just generally putting up with all the smarky comments that litter the internet, i find it amazing that they still can find the time to do something amazing like this.
