Your new World Heavyweight Champion is…
Alberto Del Rio defeated the Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match to win his first World Heavyweight Championship to go along with 2 WWE Championship reigns.
Check back later this week for a SmackDown preview and see how it all unfolds Friday Night on SmackDown.

I don’t think they pushed the Alberto as a “face” angle long enough to justify giving him the title over Big Show, who seemed like an effective heel to me at least. Just a few weeks ago he was running over Santa Foley and getting beat up as a heel by Cena. Maybe if they would have spent more time on his “transformation” instead of some of the other filler they have put in the telecast, he would have more fan support. Although maybe they are right and the more effective way to make Del Rio more popular and “fan-friendly” is as a champion and letting him defend his title against heels like Ziggler.
I hope they let Del Rio hold it for a few months and don’t just flip the title to Ziggler in a few weeks, and let Ziggler carry it through to Wrestlemania for a Cena/Ziggler title match.
