The Morning Roundup – 1/2/2013

I’m back!  New year, new attitude.  2013 is going to be a good year and hopefully a good year of wrestling.  Here we go.

Another milestone – LOP

CM Punk was the first champ to got 1/1 to 12/31 without dropping the title since Hulkster did it back in 1900 and 87.  Thats pretty impressive considering John Cena and HHH have held the title so many times in the last 10 years.  I see Punk’s days as numbered.  I do not see him dropping the title to Ryback but I bet he drops it to the Rock at Rumble.  Punk’s title reign will always remembered going forward for its quantity and not its quality.  Here’s to 2013, a year that Punk, Rock, and Cena will all hold the title.  Yah?

Backstage Fallout – WWE via Youtube

Catch up with some WWE superstars after Raw on Monday from Washington DC.  Hear what Miz, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Wade Barrett all have to say fresh off their matches.  I did not care for what Miz had to say and Ricardo’s was forgettable, however, I liked Wade’s.  I liked it, simply for the fact they are doing their darnest to make “Wildcat” Kofi Kingston a thing.  I didn’t realize he needed a nickname and do not think that “Wildcat” is a very good one for him.  However, Wade has the title, so shall if says so, Kofi is a Wildcat.

Evan Bourne Rumblings – Bleacher Report

I had forgotten he was still under contract with the WWE.  Believing he had been releasesd, I was surprised to hear that he was talking about not being back in time for the Rumble.  However, it turns out he is not unemployed, he is just injured.  The injury is bad enough that he has been out since his last suspension and wont be back in time for the Rumble.  However, this could always be a work.  The WWE loves to throw us slurve balls with social media and this could just be a hidden message he will be back at the Rumble.  Or, they want us to think it is a work so we think he’ll be there so he wont be there and we get excited and then he ends up not being there so they can sneak him back later or thats what they want us to think!
