The Marine: Homefront; Starring The Miz

The Corporate hub for World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the name of the long awaited Superstar to replace Randy Orton as the featured name in their production: The Marine 3.

STAMFORD, Conn., April 30, 2012 – WWE Studios (NYSE:WWE) and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE) today announced WWE® Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin will star in The Marine: Homefront, the third installment in The Marine franchise. This marks Mizanin’s first starring role in a film.

The action thriller will be directed by Scott Wiper, who directed The Condemned and wrote the screenplay with John Petro for the Cold Light of Day starring Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Principal photography will begin June 11 in Vancouver.

Mizanin portrays a Marine who is forced to put his skills to the test when a radical militia group kidnaps his rebellious niece. The unrelenting soldier does whatever is necessary to save his niece and stop a terrorist attack masterminded by the militia leader.

Many will recall Orton was replaced after news of his dishonorable discharge reached many active duty Marine’s and they were quite clear on their disapproval of the casting.

4th & Pain: WWE Extreme Rules Recap, Don’t Bet With Adam Carriker, Best Wrestlers On The Mic

Washington Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker and Chuck Carroll are back for a second time with 4th and Pain — the only pro wrestling show hosted by an NFL player.

This go around the boys recap WWE Extreme Rules, debate the greatest talkers of all time and come to the conclusion the Chuck should not bet on wrestling with Adam. Why? Because Adam is really really good at it.

Monday Night RAW Preview 4/30/12

I will ask this now, and then once more at the end of this post: “where are we headed with this?”

BIGGEST news out of last night; John Cena goes over Lesnar, gets injured, rumors fly that he will be taking time off, yet pledges to attend RAW tonight.

Brock is slated to “react” to his loss last night on RAW as well. Hopefully that means in person. Did anyone really think Brock was going to lose? Big surprise.

Punk beat Jericho, again. Yet it’s not over? I eagerly await an explanation.

New Divas Champ.

Here’s what bugs me: Brodus Clay took out Dolph Ziggler. Lets ignore the fact that Dolph is probably tied with Cena for best worker in the company. Brodus as a character is in major trouble. He is going no where. He has the look, absolutely. However the very original fears that there is no fore thought in this angle is coming true. He is not having real matches with his opponenets. They’re either being squashed or running around in circles to set up his finisher.

Dolph is due. No way around that fact. Brodus seems to have no pay-off, just all shtick. Punk and Jericho are putting on great matches, but the set-up is waning. Brock returned, had a stellar match, but lost; seemingly invalidating his claims for a takeover. So once more, but this time with feeling: where are we headed with this?

The Coolest Picture You’ll See All Day

The Rock and Kurt Angle will lock horns one more time…unfortunately it will be in a Michael Bay movie. Beggars can’t be choosers. Over the weekend, The Rock and Kurt Angle filmed a fight scene for Rock’s upcoming Michael Bay film Pain & Gain. Enjoy this picture of YOUR Olympic Hero and the Great One while I quietly weep about never ever having the physique that the Rock has.

The Morning Roundup – 4/30/12

John Cena Has Legit Injury – BleacherReport

During last night’s psuedo-shoot bout with Brock Lesnar, John Cena may have legitimately broke his arm. During the match Cena is reported as saying, “my left arm is f_cked” after also allegedly telling Brock to “ease up” earlier in the match. Could just be WWE playing up Lesnar’s viciousness despite losing, but it was also reported that Cena told the live audience he’d be taking time off after the PPV went off the air. Big blow to the WWE as Cena’s still “The Guy” in that organization.  Could lead to big opportunities for others to get some time in the spotlight, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Layla Wins The Divas Title –

After WWE officials ruled that Beth Phoenix wasn’t medically cleared to wrestle, Layla was announced as her replacement and went on to capture the Divas Championship from Nikki Bella in a surprising return. While it’s been a year since we’ve seen Layla, it should be interesting to have some new blood in the Divas division, would’ve liked to see Beth get the record for longest reign, but she’s got the determination to make it back. Remains to be seen how interesting Layla is without her “Flawless” BFF Michelle McCool, but hopefully it’ll lead to some new match-ups in the meantime.

Edge to Make Non-WWE Appearance – PWTorch

WWE Hall of Famer Edge is set to appear at Billy Corgan’s Resistance Pro Wrestling event in Chicago on May 11th. This according to promotional material handed out at an ROH show last Saturday. Edge has been a WWE guy for a long time and hasn’t appeared elsewhere in years and this is coming on the heels of reports that his current contract is set to expire. From what I’ve heard in interviews with him and Christian, he doesn’t need the money and will probably pick and choose his projects the rest of his life. Wish nothing for the best for a wrestler who’s career ended too soon.
